Suite Views and Good Times

July 28, 2023 – a day etched in our memories as the annual company trip to the Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays battled it out on the field. And if you were there, you know it wasn’t just about the baseball – it was about the camaraderie, the snacks, and of course, the banter that inevitably follows.

We rolled into the Rogers Centre, settling into our private suite with the perfect view of the field. The game was underway, and the Jays were locked in a tight contest – you know, the kind of game where everyone’s on edge, waiting for that one big play to turn the tide. Spoiler alert: the Jays didn’t quite make it to victory, but that didn’t stop us from having a blast.

Now, about that suite. Imagine this: popcorn in one hand, a drink in the other, feet up (well, almost), and zero worries. It was like the ultimate casual hangout, but with a few thousand other people around. As the game went on, we debated stats, shared our predictions, and, naturally, someone in the group had to claim they could do better on the field. Classic.

And then came the food. Oh yes, the classic ballpark staples – hot dogs, nachos, drinks flowing – the works. No one left hungry, that’s for sure. Between bites and sips, the game had its share of highlights, including a solid home run that had the entire stadium on their feet. Those who had placed friendly bets were either cheering or grumbling by this point (we’ll leave out the names to protect the losers). But let’s not pretend it was all serious baseball fandom. No, no – there were moments of total distraction, side conversations, and plenty of laughs about everything except the game. Whether it was catching up with coworkers, joking about who could throw the best pitch (hint: probably none of us), or just soaking in the view of the Toronto skyline – it was one of those nights where the company was as important as the event itself.

So, sure, the Jays didn’t clinch the win that night, but for us, it didn’t matter. We walked away with great memories, a few inside jokes that will probably live on in the office for months, and that feeling of being part of something fun, relaxed, and a little bit different from the regular grind.

Here’s to more outings, more laughs, and (hopefully) more Blue Jays wins next time!
